Dec. 26, 2022, Colombo: Police reports confirm that 3,596 people were abducted for various reasons in the country in the first 11 months of this year (2022).
Professor Vasantha Athukorala of the Department of Economics and Statistics of Peradanai University stated that Police reports confirm that 3,596 people were abducted for various reasons in the country in the first 11 months of this year.
The report also says that the number of abductions in 2021 was 835. He also stated that abductions have increased by about 2,800 compared to last year (2021).
