19 July 2023, Colombo: Relatives of the Muslim Covid-19 victims whose bodies were cremated, following recommendations of the Committee of Experts, were preparing to file lawsuits against members of the Committee of Experts, SJB MP Rauff Hakeem said today.
He told Parliament that the members of the Committee had made recommendations that the bodies of Covid-19 victims should not be buried and that they should be cremated. He said the recommendations had been made without any scientific basis while the other countries had decided otherwise.
The MP said the members of the Committee of Experts had committed a hate crime against the Muslim Community and that the relatives of the Muslim Covid-19 victims whose bodies were cremated would file cases against the Committee members.
