Spoken English from Grade One next year – Minister

November 26, 2022 – Colombo: Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said in Parliament yesterday (25) that spoken English training with activities will be started from Grade One next year.
Minister Premajayantha said that the era of education transformation would start in the first quarter of next year and mentioned that 13,000 teachers would be trained to implement this programme.
He said that the British Council and other institutions are helping in this purpose and that the necessary workbooks have been completed.
Minister Premajayantha added that a programme for pre-childhood will also be handed over to the ministry. The Minister of Education stated this when the business of the House commenced.
