US Dollar drops to Rs 270 on the black market

March 12, 2023, Colombo: The US dollar fetched only around Rs 270 at the time of closing trade on Friday, March 10, in the black markets of Pettah, Wellawatte, Galle, Bentota, and Beruwala, a money exchange broker said. The official rate was around Rs. 317 to the dollar.

The broker said that the dollar’s value has been falling daily due to the increasing rupee value in the past few days. A further drop could be expected, he said.
